Although classic colonials can be found across the town’s 27 square miles, Wilton has restored much of its architectural heritage in five town-designated historic districts. Beginning with Lambert House, Wilton’s oldest building, the revived housing community has grown from one original house to a nine-structure complex of historic Wilton buildings.
Wilton also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad during the late 1800s. Today, residents can still find the location where American history traveled right under their celebrated town.
